Mount Bromo, East Java

Mount Bromo (from Sanskrit / Old Javanese: "Brahma", one of the main Hindu gods), this volcano is still active and most famous as a tourist attraction in East Java. As a tourist attraction, Mount Bromo become attractive because of its status as the volcano is still active.


Bromo height is 2392 meters above sea level and it is located in four regions, namely Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Lumajang, and Malang. Mount Bromo stretch between valleys and canyons with the caldera or the sea of sand covering some 10 square kilometers.
Mount Bromo has a crater with a diameter of ± 800 feet (north-south) and ± 600 meters (east-west). While the danger area of a circle with a radius of 4 km from the central crater of Bromo.
For residents of Bromo, Tengger tribe, Mount Brahma (Bromo), believed to be a sacred mountain. Once a year the community held a ceremony Yadnya Tengger Kasada or Kasodo. The ceremony was held at a temple which is under the foot of Mount Bromo and proceed north to the top of Mount Bromo. The ceremony was held at midnight to early morning every full moon around 14 or 15 in Kasodo (tenth) according to the Javanese calendar.


"Cold", that's what you'll feel when you first get out of the car. The temperature here reached 10 degrees to 0 degrees Celsius even during early morning. So, you should prepare for sweaters, hats, gloves, socks, scarves to keep your body warm. But, if you forget the equipment, there are many vendors offering wares in the form of hats, gloves, or scarves.
Finished watching the sunrise, you can go back down the mountain Pananjakan and to Mount Bromo. Sunlight can make you see the scenery around. Apparently you go through this sea of sand which covers 10 km ². Arid areas are filled with sand and just a little overgrown grass is dry. Gust of wind, making the sand fly and can be difficult for you to breathe.
